As described in this Bark article from two years ago, Students turn to drugs to enhance test performance by Nicole Bronstein on November 20, 2012
Redwood students’ use of unprescribed ADHD drugs, including Adderall and Ritalin, to enhance their academic performance is not uncommon and is at alarmingly high levels. It is especially prevalent on today’s college campuses.Though very helpful for students who have received proper diagnoses of ADHD, the unprescribed use of Adderall, Ritalin and other ADHD drugs are a risky use of what is essentially “speed”. It is addictive. Of equal concern is that this abuse more recently has extended to student athletes taking ADHD drugs to attempt to enhance their athletic performances.
